In this post, I’ll be talking about my review of the Joby GorillaPod 1kg and ball head kit, an innovative tripod that will change the way you shoot your videos and take your photos. This is perfect for creators, vloggers, and anyone who’s looking for a reliable and flexible tripod.

Body and Features

The GorillaPod 1kg and ball head kit is designed for versatility and durability. It can hold up to 1kg or 2.2 lbs of weight, this is perfect for compact cameras and mirrorless cameras, this particular model is not suited for the chunkier DSLR, you would need to get the beefier GorillaPod 3kg model.

The GorillaPod can be configured for still photography, cinematography, vlogging or live streaming. I has three modes – you can use it as a grip, wrap around something or use it as a stand.

It’s made of high-quality materials that are built to last,  made of medical-grade ABS plastic, stainless steel, and German TPE, it’s made for the wear and tear of everyday life.

The legs of the GorillaPod 1KG are made of strong and durable rubber that can grip almost any surface. You can wrap the octopus legs around a pole or a tree for some creative shots that you can’t achieve with a traditional tripod. The legs are also adjustable, so you can create a stable base on uneven surfaces.

One of the main features of the GorillaPod is its ball head. The ball head is designed for smooth and precise movements, and it allows you to adjust your camera to any angle quickly. Precise: 360° panning bed and 90° tilt for optimal position control.

At the bottom there is a screw that you can loosen to detach the ball head, you can use the ball head separately if you have another tripod and you can also use just the Gorillapod just on its own without the ball head.

Use with Smartphones

You would need to purchase extra mounts if you want to attach your smartphone. I have a couple of them.

My Usage

I use the GorillaPod on my Sony ZV-E10 which weighs around 364 grams and I have Sigma f1.4 16mm prime lens that weighs around 400 grams. This combo works great on the tripod and it’s pretty stable.

While on vacation I also used it with my iPhone where I have the Quad Lock tripod adapter attached and GorillaPod wrapped the tripod around the car’s rear view mirror for easy access to the phone and had a great view of the GPS maps.

Weight

The GorillaPod 1kg is also very lightweight and portable. It can easily fit into your backpack or camera bag without taking up a lot of space, so you can take it with you wherever you go. It only weighs 197 g.

Summary
